COURSE OFFERINGS

BADM 490: Independent Study - International Asset Management

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

The purpose of this trip is to examine the global market in Investment Management. Students will visit numerous fund management firms and hedge funds in New York, Paris and London. There will be opportunities to experience the culture of each city. The goal is to make students aware of this very competitive market and how it operates in several countries.
If you want an international career, this is an excellent way to meet people and see what you need to do to make it a reality.
Course: We will use a seminar approach to the course content provided by both Citadel Professor and the staff we meet at the banks. Grades will be based on a short test and a report covering the trip and the differences in each country.

Depart CHS for London 7 May 2018
Depart London for Paris 11 May 2018
Depart Paris for New York 16 May 2017
Depart New York for CHS 21 May 2017
In each city, we will visit one to two banks per day. The weekends will be for cultural outings. Some days (arrival in New York and Paris) will be travel days with no activities.
Bank visits will be 1 to 3 hours, depending on market conditions and seniority of the staff. If the market goes crazy on the day we visit, we will get a shorter presentation.
Typically, the visits have a senior banker welcome us and give you an idea of what their area of the bank does. The meeting then has one, or more, juniors who explain how they got their start, what they do and what they wish they had known at the beginning.
The staff will be multi-cultural and can give comments from many different viewpoints.
We can plan the cultural outings based on student preferences.
In Paris, we will likely meet with other students.
