COURSE OFFERINGS

HIST391: World War II: D-Day to Paris - 3 credits

*Note: This course is a semester-long course offered during the Spring 2024 term with an embedded/required spring-break travel component.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Stand-alone three-credit hour class, World War II: D-Day to Paris. The class will be listed as a special topics course. The class will meet twice a week, preparatory to a ten-day trip to France during spring break 2024. An intensive series of staff rides/tours of battlefields, museums, and cemeteries will follow, tracing the history of the Allied invasion of Europe at Normandy and its subsequent breakout and movements to Paris. There will be special emphasis upon the actions and sacrifices of Citadel graduates.


LEARNING OUTCOMES

As a result of this course, students will be able to:
-Create an interactive and experiential learning experience for the study of World War II
-Study principled, and unprincipled, leadership in the crucible of war
-Understand the role and sacrifices of Citadel alumni in World War II
-Foster an appreciation for how other countries directly experienced World War II

DEPOSIT DEADLINE

Once given instructor permission to join the course, students will be given a link to pay a program deposit.
Deposits will be due NO LATER THAN December 1, 2023.
