HIST391: World War II: Operation Market Garden to the Battle of the Bulge - 3 credits

*Note: This course is a semester-long honors course offered during the Spring 2020 term with an embedded/required spring-break travel component.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Stand-alone three-credit hour class, World War II: Operation Market Garden to the Battle of the Bulge. The class will be listed as a special topics course. The class will meet twice a week, preparatory to a week-long trip to Belgium, France, and the Netherlands during spring break 2020. An intensive series of staff rides/tours of battlefields, museums, and cemeteries will follow, tracing the history of WWII from Operation Market Garden to the Battle of the Bulge with special emphasis upon the actions of
Citadel graduates.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
As a result of this course, students will be able to:
-Create an interactive and experiential learning experience for the study of World War II
-Study principled, and unprincipled, leadership in the crucible of war
-Understand the role and sacrifices of Citadel alumni in World War II
-Foster an appreciation for how other countries directly experienced World War II
