COURSE OFFERINGS

SPAN 102 - Elementary Spanish Communication II - 3 credits
SPAN 201 - Intermediate Spanish Communication - 3 credits
SPAN 202 - Spanish Conversation, Reading, and Composition - 3 credits
SPAN 302 - Advanced Spanish Composition - 3 credits
SPAN 450 - Undergraduate Seminar: Studies in Special Topics - 3 credits

Student Learning Outcomes:
Students will take classes corresponding to 6 credit hour course. They will develop and strengthen linguistic and cultural skill since they will be immersed in the Spanish culture and they will be using the target language for 4 weeks. This will allow them to learn and use the language in real life situations (restaurants, museums, etc). Since they will be living with a local family, they will be exposed to local gastronomy and cultural traditions from Mallorca. At a personal level, this experience will foster maturity, adaptability, flexibility and open-mindedness since this experience will expose them to new cultural situations, and foment to expand their global cultural vision.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Students will take Spanish classes at “Escuela de Lengua Española (ELE)”, which is run by the prestigious University of Salamanca. The program lasts 4 weeks, and students will take 20 lessons of classes per week (80 lessons in total). Students will have the opportunity to do cultural activities like food testing, folk dances. They will also have the chance to visit modern art (Fundación Miró, Fundació Juan March) and historic museums (Museo militar; Museo Baulard, churches (Catedral Gótica, La lonja), medieval monasteries, castles (Castillo Bellver; Palacio de la Almudena), caves (Cuevas del Drach, Arta, Campanet). They can also visit in their free time some archeological sites (Neolithic village in Arta); beautiful parks (Isla Cabrera) and old roman and medieval villages like Soller, Alcudia, Pollença, Esporles or Deià.
