Program Description

In the Saint-Cyr War Studies program, our students will attend all of the following courses. All are in English -but the French language courses.
- Geopolitics (Citadel's PSCI 342: International Terrorism// PSCI 433: Topics in International Politics)
- Military and Social Ethics (Citadel's PHIL 409)
- Conflicts in Africa and the Middle East (Citadel's PSCI 339: Middle Eastern Affairs// PSCI 341: African Affairs)
- The Character of War Leaders (Citadel's ENGL 371: Literary Paradigms of Leadership)
- The Images of War (Citadel's FNAR 350: Advanced Special Topics in Fine Arts)
- War Studies Papers (Citadel's PSCI 433: Topics in International Scholarship)
- Religious Intelligence at War (Citadel's PHIL 409: Seminar in Philosophical Topics)
- Cultural Anthropology (Citadel's ANTH 202: Cultural Anthropology)
- History of Islam (Citadel's HIST 365: Special Topics in Non-Western History)
-Leadership (Citadel's PSCI 371: Leadership in Politics)

- French language courses (2 courses required)

- Sport activities

To apply for the Spring 2024 program, students need to:
• Study French at The Citadel
• Students have to be aware that, in order to participate in the French Guyana Warfare Training Course, they will have to provide a medical assessment by their doctor or, preferably, a military doctor.
• Have a passport

HOW TO APPLY

Students interested in the Global Scholars Program for the Spring semester should submit this application no later than October 15 if they wish to secure a spot. Students must meet the 2.5 GPA requirement and be in good standing in regards to discipline and conduct here at The Citadel. While the deadline is not until October 15, it is possible that the program can fill up prior to this deadline.

Important Steps to Study Abroad:
-Speak with academic advisor about what classes are needed to stay on track
-Apply for a passport if you do not already have one (visit travel.state.gov to apply for your passport)
-Alert chain of command that you wish to study abroad
-Contracted students should also alert ROTC departments of plans to study abroad
