COURSE OFFERINGS
LDRS733: Battlefield Leadership - 3 credits

This course is a Military Leadership Certificate Elective

*Note: This course is a semester-long course offered during the Spring 2024 term with an embedded/required spring-break travel component.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Join a small group of 15 graduate students and instructors on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to France during Spring Break 2024. Experience historic battlefields, focusing on the ways individual and organizational leadership impacted warfare. This graduate course will focus on the Battle of Hastings (1066), Battle of Belleau Wood (WWI), and Operation Overlord (WWII).

DEPOSIT DEADLINE
Once given instructor permission to join the course, students will be given a link to pay a program deposit.
Deposits will be due NO LATER THAN December 1, 2023.

NOTES AND RECOMMENDATIONS
-If you do not have a passport, you will need to apply for one ASAP (and expedite it). All information about passport applications may be found on the State Department's website: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply.html

-If you do have a passport, please make sure that it does not expire until AT LEAST 3-6 months after your program's completion date.

-Please note that even if you meet the requirements to participate in this program, it is up to the instructor to choose which students join the spring course and the program.

-This course will be listed in Banner as a full-semester course, with the first 8-weeks, from 8 January to 3 March, in the online classroom via Canvas, followed by an in-person study abroad trip to Normandy, France from 7-16 March. There will be no coursework after 16 March. Final grades will be available in Canvas after 16 March but not posted to Banner until the end of the semester in May.
