PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Global Scholars Program is a campus-wide initiative to make semester study abroad opportunities more widely available to all cadets at The Citadel. The program offers cadets enrolled in nearly every academic major at The Citadel to spend a semester abroad, taking courses relevant to their majors, while paying nearly the same amount for all study abroad costs as they would pay for a semester of study at The Citadel. Global Scholars may enroll in more than 18 credit-hours or participate in additional excursions or activities not included in the program fee at an additional cost.

ACADEMIC CONSIDERATIONS

To begin planning for your semester abroad please meet with your advisor OR run your degree evaluation in Lesesne Gateway to determine which courses you could take while studying abroad. In order to ensure students stay on track for graduation, cadets are advised to select up to 10 courses that they can take while abroad. For each course you are interested in, you must select one or two alternates to account for possible schedule conflicts with that particular course. We will update all students with Course Approval information as soon as it is available.

In the event that one of the courses you need is not approved, please send us the Citadel course name and we will touch base with the respective department to see what we can do to accommodate your course requirements.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Students participating in this program must meet the minimum GPA requirement of 2.0. Additionally, students must pass a conduct approval, stating that they have no disciplinary issues on their student record. Students who have a contract with the Military must gain approval from their appropriate Military branch.
