Program Description

All study abroad programs have been cancelled for the spring 2021 semester

HOST UNIVERSITY

The Global Scholars Program in Cyprus is hosted by the University of Nicosia (UNIC). The University of Nicosia is the largest research university in Southern Europe that teaches primarily in English, offering Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees, based on the American model (4-year Bachelor degrees, 15 credit hour semesters). It is also the largest university in Cyprus.

The University enrolls about 5,000 students, of which approximately 600 are internaMonal students, 60 are ERASMUS exchange students and 70-80 are North American study abroad students.

Global Scholars take classes with degree-seeking students at the University of Nicosia, in a truly immersive environment with no language barrier.

COURSE OPTIONS

Students participating in the Global Scholars Program will receive transfer credit from their host university. Therefore, their GPA will not be affected by courses taken during students' semesters abroad on this program. As long as students receive a C or better in their classes abroad, transfer credit will be applied to the students' transcript. The Citadel Office of Study Abroad will take care of pre-approving all course offerings from AUR for the Global Scholars Program. A complete list off available courses will be attached to this application page once all courses have been approved by Citadel faculty members.

HOW TO APPLY

Students interested in the Global Scholars Program in Cyprus for the Spring 2021 semester should submit this application no later than October 15th if they wish to secure a spot. Students must meet the 2.5 GPA requirement and be in good standing in regards to discipline and conduct here at The Citadel. While the deadline is not until October 15, it is possible that the program can fill up prior to this deadline should the Office of Study Abroad receive a high number of qualified applicants.

Important Steps to Study Abroad:
-Speak with your academic advisor about what classes are needed to stay on track
-Apply for a passport if you do not already have one (visit travel.state.gov to apply for your passport)
